Special Dog Appeal

The dogs featured in this appeal have been with us for a while and are really missing being a part of a family.  They can't wait to get back in front of the telly and catch up on what they have missed on Corrie, they miss the warmth of the house and the cuddles they used to get from their old families.  We are looking for special families that can take these dogs home and give them the love they deserve.

Sammy is a one year old male collie. His owner died and Sammy missed him badly, he lost a lot of weight but as you can see he is getting better. He is a very affectionate boy who would love to be someone's special companion. Sammy would suit a quiet owner who enjoys a quiet life and would like a dog for company, Sammy would be best suited to a one or two person family best.

This is Nemo, he is a beautiful chocolate Labrador.  He is about 3 years old and just loves to play, his favourite game is football, but anything will do as long as he is having fun.  Nemo would make a great pet to any family that didn't have young children as he can sometimes be a little boisterous when he plays.  Teenagers would be ideal for him.  Nemo does not get on with all dogs so if you were interested in giving Nemo a home and you had a dog already they would have to meet to check that they would get on.

Shy is a male collie, approximately 18 months old.  Shy came in to us a shivering wreck.  He was very underweight and very frightened.  It soon became apparent to us that he had been badly mistreated in his previous home as he was so scared it was almost impossible to get near him.  That was a year ago and although we are now able to manage him and get close enough to pet him he is still very nervous.
Shy has spent the occasional weekend at the house of one of our volunteers and their family and is much more relaxed in a home environment.
Shy just needs a patient home where he can bond with a family and learn to trust people again.  Shy is great with dogs and in fact it would probably suit him better to have a canine friend at home.

Marley is a lovely setter, he is quite young but has not had a great start in life, he was found living rough and was half starved.  Thankfully he has started to gain weight now.  As a result of his poor start he is very shy of people but is starting to come round and has made friends with some of the staff here, he doesn't have a bad bone in his body and just wants to be loved.  He is looking for a family that can be patient with him while he learns to trust them, he will make a very rewarding pet to a family with lots of time to spend with him.

This is Blade, he is a lab x who just loves to play.  Blade is a fabulous dog who would make a great pet for any family, he gets on well with all kinds of people and is very obedient.  He has been clicker trained here at Assisi and knows all his basic commands and walks beautifully on a lead.  He does not get on well with all dogs, but if you are interested in Blade and already have a brave dog then we can arrange for them to be introduced.

Snowy is a 10mth old terrier. He is a very handsome boy but is not coping well with kennel life and is quite stressed. He competes for affection and this makes it difficult for him to be part of a group. We feel he will calm down when he is rehomed and not feeling left out.

Snowy is also available for sponsorship.

Rex is a special little man, he is stuffed full with character and is about four and a half years old.  He came to Assisi when his owner was taken ill and is now looking for a new home.  Rex is looking for a special home with a family that have plenty experience with Jack Russells or similar breeds as he can be a bit stroppy at times.  He is also looking for a home where there are no young children.  Most of the time he is a lovely little dog who enjoys sitting next to you on the chair having his belly rubbed.
