Sponsor an Animal

Penny's Pals are all available to sponsor. These are longer term residents who have been with us for a while. Sponsorship can be done in any of the following ways...

Sponsoring one of our long term residents costs £60 per year ( just £5 per month) and will contribute towards the food and vet bills for the animal.

Sponsoring a dog run or a cat cabin costs £120 per year ( just £10 per month) and will contribute towards the costs ( feeding, vaccinations, neuter or spay, vet bills ) of each animal that will occupy the run or cabin.

These amounts can be paid by either an annual or monthly standing order....any amount on a regular basis will be very much appreciated by our residents. If you are a tax payer we are able to reclaim 28 p for each £1 you donate.

Cats for Sponsor

Barney is our king of the hill! He is around 6 years old and lives freely on site. Barney meets and greets all our visitors and everyone who has been to visit us is bound to have tickled his ears! He is available for sponsor.

Finn is a 5 yr old boy rescued as a stray. He has feline aids and so needs homed as a totally indoor cat. Finn is available to sponsor.

Neptune is a 9 yr old female who is unsure around people she doesn't know. Poor Neptune spent many years not socialising at all with cats or people in the cattery, and has now become a totally adorable and loving girl. She is available for sponsor.

Lucy is 7 years old and has been at Assisi for 5 years. She is a stunning girl who has always been very wary of people, so will stay with us as long necessary.

Jasper is 2 years old and has been at Assisi for 18 months. He has a neurological condition which affects his coordination and means Jasper has never been successfully litter trained. He is the most adorable, affectionate boy with lots of love to give.

Jeunet is 9 years old. She had such a bad start in life that she will probably never trust people fully. She has been with us for 5 years.

Hannah was rescued from living rough in fields behind the sanctuary. She is about 4 years old and is Jeunets best friend.

Penny is our resident princess! She is about 3 years old and after a bad start in life has settled well. Despite being in charge of all her pal's and introducing them for sponsor Penny herself would also be available for this scheme.

Solo is just a year old, he came in with his brother Samuel. They are very nervous of people, and are both available for sponsor. Little Solo lost his left eye due to an untreated infection as a kitten.

Samuel, Solo's brother, available for sponsor.

Snowy is a 6 yr old boy rescued from a nursing home when staff were told to stop feeding him. He is a great pal of Samuel and Solo, is happy at the cattery, and is available to sponsor as he will be with us long term.

Geronimo is about 16 years old, and used to be cared for in a foster home. Sadly he was returned to us, and is now available for sponsor.

This happy little trio is Tamsin, Jeunet and Edward. They are the best of friends and will all be here long term. They are all available to sponsor. These cats have had such a bad experience at the hands of people that they will never accept a stranger. They are very happy at the cattery.

Garrett is a handsome boy, about 10 months old, who was rescued from life scavenging for food on a farm. He is wary of people, and has great friends in the cattery, especially Snowy. Garret is a candidate for our sponsorship scheme.

This is Bubbles, she is about 5 years old, and is quite a fiesty girl. She arrived as a stray, and is available to sponsor as she is a long term resident.

Gomez is a real quirky little man, he is about 10 years old. He was out on foster care, but came back to us in a dreadful state. He was wandering as a stray, riddled with fleas and had serious worms. He had his thyroid removed last year, so was always very slender. He arrived painfully thin. We are working hard to help him recover, so he would be a foster candidate as we would prefer him to stay with us now.

Edmund and Rio are a very special brother and sister. They were rescued as stray kittens, and it was soon discovered they have a condition called "cerebellar hyperplasia". This is similar to the human condition cerebral palsy. It was caused by their mother having enteritis, stopping a proper blood supply to her developing kittens. Their balance is greatly affected and they are not litter trained. Chances of finding the right home for them are slim, so they are both available to sponsor.

Dogs for sponsor

Snowe
y is a 10mth old terrier. He is a very handsome boy but is not coping well with kennel life and is quite stressed. He competes for affection and this makes it difficult for him to be part of a group. We feel he will calm down when he is rehomed and not feeling left out.
Snowey is also available for sponsorship.

Update - 20/4/08 Snowey has now been socialised with other dogs, he is progressing well and we are hopeful this will help his rehoming prospects

Butch is a beautiful Sheltie, he is approximately 7 years old.  He is a fabulous dog who would have made a great working dog.  He loves his cuddles and his walks, although is not always so keen on getting a brush.  Butch has been at Assisi for five years and is a favourite amongst the staff.
Butch is a resident here at Assisi and is only really looking for sponsorship.

This is Rocky, known to the staff as Rocky Rockstar, he is 5 years old and is a real character here at Assisi.  Rocky has been with us at Assisi for 3 years.  He can be quite protective over his personal space and has to get to know you well before he will allow you to handle him.  We think Rocky may have been kicked or beaten with a broom at some point in his life as he is still very nervous if you move a broom near him or go to move him with your foot.
Rocky needs lots of therapy and care and
is therefore only looking for sponsorship.

This is Fritz, he is a funny little man who is about 6 years old.  Fritz has been at Assisi on and off since July 2002.  Fritz has a couple of best friends here but he can be a little unpredictable sometimes.  Fritz finds it hard to trust people and often defends himself when shown affection by people he doesn't know well.  Fritz is looking for sponsorship.

Robbie is a collie cross who has been at Assisi for 9 years. He has an aneurism, and suffers from epilepsy meaning he is on daily medication to control his conditions. Robbie hates loud noises, thunderstorms, and unfamiliar people and situations. He is looking for sponsorship.

Jack is a great dog who sometimes gets a little stressed when faced with new people or new situations. For this reason he would be very difficult to re-home.  Jack loves to play with his toys and  loves fetching them back to you.  He  is very obedient with people that he knows.  His is a firm favourite with the staff and volunteers.  Jack came into Assisi in 2002 aged two. Although he now suffers from arthritus and is on medication, he still loves to play.

Timmy is a corgi cross.  He is about 8 years old and was brought into Assisi March 2005 and has been unable to find a home since that time.  Timmy can be a little sensitive about being touched around his neck and collar area and does not like to be over handled, however he loves to be cuddled and to snuggle up beside you on the sofa.

Sammy is a 2yr old collie x. He was emaciated on arrival 1year ago, lots of TLC from a foster carer had him soon back to health. However he has a few behaviour problems due to lack of socialising and training as a young dog. Sammy is a little unpredictable and will remain in our care for the foreseeable future. He is a loving, affectionate dog who is a bit confused.

RABBITS FOR SPONSOR

If a school or youth group is interested in sponsoring an animal, rabbits are ideal as they can be visited and fully interacted with.

Orinocco is a white female lop who is 5 years old. She loves to look after any single guinea pigs who come in to the sanctuary and is a long term resident due to ongoing dental problems.

Bumper is a 4 year old male large brown rabbit. He is quirky, inquisitive and can be a bit of a cheeky boy! As a long term resident he is available to sponsor.

Snowy is a 2 year old pink eyed white rabbit. She suffers from a recurring chest infection, so is likely to be here long term. She is a very friendly girl available for sponsor.
